- Aphasia - When a person is not able to comprehend or unable to formulate/produce language because of damage to specific brain regions
- Articulation Disorders -When a person is not able to correctly produce certain speech sounds, and their speech intelligibiity is compromised. This disorder can be functional/organic in nature.
- Receptive-Expressive Language Skills -A Receptive language disorders is the inability to understand language; An Expressive Language Disorder is when a person (usually a child) has difficulty expressing themselves.
- Auditory Processing -This has to do with what happens to the auditory signal after it enters the auditory canal and travels through the auditory pathway through the brain. A person may be able to hear the sounds but the brain does not process it normally, making one appear to be unaware of the information provided. The person usually has functional hearing acuity.

- Phonological Awareness - A person with weaknesses in phonological awareness demonstrates difficulty in the phonlogical or sound structure in words- i.e.having difficuty repeating words.
- Pragmatic/Social Skills Development - When someone has difficulty initiating , maintaing, a conversation; staying on topic or responding appropriately etc. when involved in an act of communication.
- Autism Spectrum Disorders - A developmental disorder characterized by a broad range of conditions such as difficulties in social interactions, challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, and speech and nonverbal communication abilities.
